Community Foundations of Southwest Iowa
Making the most of giving — close to home
Who understands the needs of local communities better than the people with close ties to them? That’s precisely the thinking behind the Community Foundations of Southwest Iowa.
Made up of nine counties, they have bounded together to minimize the administrative costs. Yet, each is governed by its own board, made up of people who live in the county and can help make recommendations about all the ways that the foundation can do the most good.
From individuals and families, to businesses and the collective efforts of everyone who gives, the Community Foundations of Southwest Iowa ensure that each community and the people who live there benefit in ways that would not otherwise be possible.
It’s better to give and receive
Since 2003, the Endow Iowa Tax Credit has directly encouraged more than $75 million in permanently endowed funds at community foundations. Those who give to a permanently endowed fund at a qualified community foundation or affiliate organization are eligible to receive 25% tax credits for their gifts. Tax credits are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with approximately $4.5 million available annually statewide.
