More about the 2023 CAP® Class
Abby Arcishewsky specializes in working with business owners and helping them work through transition and succession planning. She counsels clients on sophisticated planning techniques and strategies while staying focused on what is most important to those individuals and families. She believes every client deserves to experience the joy of seeing their business transition on their terms. Knowing she can help positively impact those individuals and the communities they serve is what drives her as a transition specialist. Abby has over 15 years of experience, holds the Certified Exit Planner Designation and works specifically with business owner clients.
Allie Boulay is a Tax Manager in the Business Tax Services practice of Deloitte Tax LLP and has been with Deloitte for seven years. She specializes in serving clients in the private wealth space (closely held private companies, ultra-high net worth individuals and fiduciaries) with their tax compliance (income, estate, gift, trust), and business and individual consulting needs. She also has experience in serving clients within the insurance sector and the private equity space. She received a bachelor’s in business administration and master’s in public accountancy from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
Ben Burton is a Tax Shareholder at Lutz with over 14 years of experience in taxation. His primary focus is providing income and state and local tax services to corporations, partnerships, and individuals. In addition, he specializes in trust and estate consulting and compliance. He received a bachelor’s in accounting from the University of Nebraska Omaha.
Elizabeth Donner serves as the Chief Development Officer for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands. She has been with the organization for five years, and enjoys making an impact in the lives of thousands of young people who are served by the Clubs each year. She has a passion for working in the nonprofit sector. Elizabeth received a bachelor’s in social work from the University of Nebraska–Kearney and began her career providing services to young adults aging out of the foster care system.
Matt Gerard serves as the Vice President of University Relations at Creighton University with responsibility for fundraising and alumni relations. He began his career with Creighton in 2004 working for the annual fund for the School of Medicine, and went on to hold positions with the Willing to Lead campaign, the Heider College of Business’ Ignite the Greatness campaign, and currently leads the $650M Forward Blue campaign, launched in 2017. Matt received a bachelor’s in journalism from the University of Iowa and a master’s in secondary education from the University of Oregon. He is originally from Omaha.
Jack Holmes is a Senior Vice President and Relationship Manager at Bridges Trust. He is responsible for business development, managing client portfolios, conducting security analysis, and developing investment policy for the firm. Jack received a bachelor’s in business administration and finance from Colorado State University and a master’s in security analysis and portfolio management from Creighton University. He earned the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation in 2012. Jack is a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of Nebraska, and a board member for Saving Grace Perishable Food Rescue.
Kris Karnes is a Senior Director of Business Owner Advisory Services at First National Bank of Omaha. Kris employs her extensive experience in counseling clients through complex transactions with a dedication to client success, offering advisory services to business owners considering a transition or sale. At FNBO, she has also worked as a staff attorney, using her skills and expertise to assist with mergers and acquisitions by offering general legal, corporate governance, and regulatory support. Kris was a Partner, and later Of Counsel, at Kutak Rock LLP law firm. She received a bachelor’s political science from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and a Juris Doctor from Creighton Law School.
Colin Kastrick travels around the Midwest providing legal services to those in both urban and rural communities. Colin’s practice focuses on estate and business planning and real estate transactions. He works with everyone from young families looking to set up Wills and Powers of Attorney to high net worth individuals and business owners looking for estate tax planning or tax friendly avenues to pass the business to the next generation. He also assists families looking to protect their loved one’s assets when entering a long term care facility. He received a bachelor’s from the University of Nebraska Omaha and a juris doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law.
Laura Latka is a member of FORVIS Private Client and has more than 10 years of experience in public accounting. She focuses on tax consulting and estate planning, and also provides tax and consulting services to clients in the financial services industry. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants. Laura received a bachelor’s in business administration and a master’s in professional accountancy from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
Brett Lindstrom serves as a Senior Vice President and Relationship Manager at Bridges Trust. He manages client relationships, business development, and aligning family and business interests around wealth-building goals and strategies. Brett has nearly two decades of wealth management experience. He also served eight years as a senator in the Nebraska legislature. During his terms, he was the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Banking, Vice Chair of Revenue Committee, Vice Chair of Retirement Systems Committee, and served on the Commerce and Insurance Committee. Brett is passionate about helping families impact their communities and the causes they are interested in to enhance our way of living for the next generation. Brett received a bachelor’s in history from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
Andrea Marshall is a CPA that started her own CFO and Accounting Services company, Andrea Marshall Consulting, LLC, after leaving Deloitte as a Senior Manager followed by time at ConAgra as the Director of Financial Reporting. Andrea works with a variety of clients, including both nonprofit and for-profit organizations, providing fractional CFO Services as well as consulting on a project basis. Andrea received a bachelor’s in accounting and a master’s in public administration from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Andrea serves on boards and committees for nonprofit organizations, including Project Harmony, Child Saving Institute, and Omaha Performing Arts. Andrea was a Leadership Omaha Class 34 Graduate.
Anne Meysenburg is the Director of Community Investment at the Omaha Community Foundation and has been with OCF since 2015. She has a wealth of experience in nonprofit management, organizational infrastructure development, community development, and philanthropic process. She served as the Executive Director of Live Well Omaha and The Kent Bellow Studio & Center for Visual Arts. Anne has served on several boards including the Nonprofit Association of the Midlands, Refugee Empowerment Center, and Immigrant Legal Center. She received a bachelor’s in communications from the University of Nebraska Omaha and a master’s in nonprofit management and public policy analysis from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Nick Meysenburg is an attorney at Dvorak Law Group with a practice focus in estate, wealth transfer, and business succession planning. He helps clients transition their legacy according to their objectives and provides advanced tax planning involving family business entities, sale and loan techniques, revocable and irrevocable trusts, insurance planning, and charitable giving. His practice also includes the administration of clients’ estate plans during their lifetimes and beyond. He received a bachelor’s from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and a juris doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law.
Rodney Ruh, CFP®, serves as a First Vice President – Investment Officer with Wells Fargo Advisors. He draws on years of experience and education to help clients with investments, investment planning strategies, and multi-generational estate planning strategies, working closely with clients’ attorneys and accountants. He has worked as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch and UBS Financial Services, Inc. He majored in economics at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Rollins College and received a law degree from Creighton University. Rodney is a member of the Omaha Estate Planning Council, NFL Registered Financial Advisor Program, Financial Planning Association, and has volunteered for many local schools, charities, and sports organizations.
Dana Ryan serves as a Philanthropy Officer at the Methodist Hospital Foundation. She works closely with donors on legacy gift planning and the facilitation of major gifts. She is also responsible for the Foundation’s Methodist CORE (Community of Retired Employees) and the Professional Advisory Committee. Dana joined the Methodist Hospital Foundation in 2021. She previously served as development manager for Omaha nonprofit Film Streams following a career in personal finance and retirement planning administration. Dana received a bachelor’s in business administration and public health from the University of Nebraska Omaha. Passionate about the arts, Dana has appeared in productions at the BLUEBARN Theatre and Great Plains Theatre Conference.
Albert Varas is a seasoned leader with over two decades of experience in education, nonprofit, business, and public health. As the CEO of the Latino Center of the Midlands for the past six years, Albert has successfully launched new initiatives, modernized the organization’s finances and technology, and established vital partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and other partners. Committed to promoting and propelling a capable and diverse workforce, Albert actively serves on various community boards and works tirelessly to support the advancement of underserved youth and families through education and access to resources.
