At the end of April, the Fund for Omaha Committee met and selected 20 local organizations to receive awards for the spring funding cycle. The Fund for Omaha’s Greatest Need Grants program has evolved as a way for the Omaha Community Foundation to be responsive to the most pressing needs in our community. Applicants are invited to identify their organization’s greatest need and propose a plan to address it.
During the Spring 2013 Grant Cycle the Fund for Omaha granted a total of $180,000 to the following organizations:
- Together – $15,500
- Community Bike Shop of Omaha, Inc. – $15,000
- Girls, Inc. – $10,000
- Justice for our Neighbors – Nebraska – $10,000
- Literacy Center for the Midlands – $10,000
- Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance – $5,000
- Women’s Center for Advancement – $10,000
- Children’s Respite Care Center – $10,000
- Micah House – $10,000
- Blue Barn Theatre – $10,000
- Collective for Youth – $10,000
- College Possible – $2,500
- Omaha Street School – $10,000
- Ted E. Bear Hollow – $10,000
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands – $7,000
- Children’s Scholarship Fund of Omaha – $5,000
- Deer Park Neighborhood Association – $8,000
- One World Community Health Centers, Inc. – $7,500
- Royal Family Kids’ Camp Omaha – $7,000
- Southern Sudan Community Association – $7,500
