The Montgomery County Community Foundation, working in partnership with the Red Oak Heritage Foundation, awarded $32,800 to Montgomery County nonprofit organizations and community projects during its Fall 2021 Grant Cycle. Including these most recent grants, the Montgomery County Community Foundation has distributed over $2.2 million in grants and scholarships over the last 23 years.

The following organizations are Fall 2021 Grant Recipients:

  • Friends of the Red Oak Trails – $750, East Parking Lot Landscaping Project
  • Montgomery County Family YMCA – $1,500, Water Feature Update
  • Nishna Productions, Inc. – $2,748, Residential Automated External Defibrillators (AED)
  • Red Oak Child Development Center – $2,285, Playground Mulch Project
  • Red Oak Grand Theatre, Inc. – $6,500, Capital Campaign Donor Recognition Walls
  • Southwest Iowa Fishing Team, Inc – $4,350, Fish Habitat Conservation Project
  • Southwest Valley Schools – Enarson Elementary – $1,600, Enarson Elementary Outdoor Classroom Project
  • Stanton Community Foundation – $1,500, Stanton Community Artwork
  • The Restored Burlington Northern Depot & World War II Memorial Museum – $4,000, Stabilization of Museum Foundation Walls
  • Viking Center – $510, Flagpole Project
  • Villisca Public Library – $1,307, Lighting Upgrade
  • Wilson Performing Arts Center – $5,000, Wilson Music Park Instrument

All grantees met the criteria as Montgomery County nonprofit agencies or organizations with charitable missions supporting community needs in the areas of civic engagement, culture, health, education, and social services. Only organizations providing services in Montgomery County were eligible to apply.

These grant funds were made possible by the generosity of donors to the Montgomery County Community Foundation and the following charitable funds through the community foundation: The Focht Family Endowed Fund for Villisca; Stanton Endowment Fund; VHS Class of 1977 Endowment Fund; and Villisca Community Endowment Fund.

The Montgomery County Community Foundation works with individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to create permanent and expendable funds—such as those above—that address changing, vital community needs and interests.
