By all accounts, 2013 was a record year for the Foundation. Donors generously infused $132 million into the community, and invested in future giving by adding $297 million to OCF accounts; a 45% increase over our previous best year! The impact that our family of donors was able to make on the community is an absolutely astounding example of collective giving.
Omaha Gives! brought the greater community together around giving for the first time in 2013. The metro area’s own charitable holiday, which took place on May 22, resulted in 11,000 individuals raising over $3 million to support 308 nonprofit organizations serving Douglas, Sarpy, and Pottawattamie counties. The day ignited the individuals and spurred even more giving in 2014, as statistics from the 24-hour online giving event doubled in almost every category. We’re looking forward to hosting Omaha Gives! for the third time on May 20, 2015.
Finally, 2013 marked a milestone for the Foundation. Since our inception in 1982, over $1 billion has been granted to 3,000 charitable organizations. We are forever grateful for the generosity we experience each day and so proud to be a part of this incredible community.
