The Montgomery County Community Foundation, working in partnership with the Red Oak Heritage Foundation, awarded $140,932 to Montgomery County nonprofit organizations and community projects during its Spring 2023 Grant Cycle.
The following organizations are Spring 2023 Grant Recipients:

- Montgomery County Agricultural Society – $5,000, Banquet Tables and Storage Racks
- Montgomery County Child Development Assoc Inc. – $2,800, Gym Partition and Desktop Computer
- Montgomery County Conservation – $10,000, Nature Center Updates
- Montgomery County Family YMCA – $5,300, Low Impact Cardiovascular Equipment
- Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Court of Honor – $5,000, Salute Rifles for Military Burials
- Ms. Tara’s Daycare – $6,000 , Cement work
- Nishna Productions, Inc. – $800, Shrink-Wrap Dispenser
- Project Porchlight – $3,750, Backpacks for Kids
- Red Oak Grand Theatre, Inc. – $20,000, New Seating & Floor Replacement
- Red Oak Music Boosters – $18,000 , Piano Project
- Red Oak Park and Tree Board – $3,000, Fountain Square Park Stage/Bandstand Electricity
- Red Oak Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association, Inc. – $13,917, Wildland/Firefighting Vehicle
- Save Our Depot, Inc – $6,000 , Ceiling Fans; Interior Wall Painting
- Stanton Child Resource Center – $20,000, Outdoor Playground & Classroom
- Stanton Historical Society – $2,000, Basement Lighting
- Stanton Viking Center – $4,000, Youth Sports Equipment
- Villisca Community Schools – Enarson Elementary – $5,865, Junior Kindergarten Classroom
- Wilson Performing Arts Center – $5,000, Caulking, Tuckpointing, and Mortar Replacement
All grantees met the criteria as Montgomery County nonprofit agencies or organizations with charitable missions supporting community needs in the areas of civic engagement, culture, health, education, and social services. Only organizations providing services in Montgomery County were eligible to apply.
The Montgomery County Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Omaha Community Foundation, which meets National Standards for Community Foundations, and is one of nine county members of the Community Foundations of Southwest Iowa. It receives funds annually from the State of Iowa County Endowment Fund Program for endowment building and grantmaking throughout the county. This cycle of grants was made possible through the County Endowment Fund Program and is funded by a percentage of the state’s commercial gaming tax revenue, which is distributed annually to participating community foundations associated with counties without a state-issued gaming license.
The Montgomery County Community Foundation works with individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to create permanent and expendable funds that address changing, vital community needs and interests. Gifts to permanently endowed funds through the Montgomery County Community Foundation may be eligible to receive a 25% Endow Iowa Tax Credit.
