Your clients rely on your guidance to make important financial decisions. When it comes to charitable giving, we can partner with you to simplify their giving and amplify their impact. But don’t just take our word for it. Hear from professionals in the field like James Tews, attorney at Koley Jessen in Omaha. James works with families to both develop and execute comprehensive estate plans.

For your clients with charitable interests, what makes OCF a good partner to facilitate giving goals?

The staff at OCF has a wealth of knowledge about charitable options and vehicles. I can leverage the expertise and manpower of OCF to guide clients on learning about and selecting nonprofits or areas of interest to give to. Then I can implement those decisions in their estate planning.

How have your clients utilized OCF in their plans?

In many cases, I recommend that clients establish a fund at OCF to plan their legacy giving. Often that means my client will donate a retirement policy, qualified assets, or assets from their estate or trust upon their death. As a client’s charitable objectives evolve, they can easily work with OCF to update their fund to ensure their legacy lives on.

What should clients be doing at the end of the year with their advisors?

From an income tax perspective, as the year comes to an end and clients begin to have a more informed understanding of their circumstances (taxable income and deductions), it may be helpful to visit with their tax professionals and investment advisors to determine final transactions, like making final contributions to qualified plans and IRAs, business planning, charitable giving, etc.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us about local philanthropy or your relationship with OCF?

The people are OCF are easy to work with, responsive, and personable, and they make collaboration and client hand-off seamless.
