Ten local nonprofit organizations have been selected to participate in the Omaha Community Foundation’s Nonprofit Capacity Building program.
Now in its eighth year, the program is designed to strengthen the region’s nonprofit sector by helping individual nonprofits maximize their organizational impact.
This year’s class includes organizations of varying sizes and areas of focus; around half of the nonprofits have veteran executive leadership in place, while the others have newer leaders at the helm.
The organizations selected to participate in the 2018 program are:
- Bethlehem House
- Children’s Scholarship Fund
- Eastern Nebraska Community Action Partnership
- Golden Hills Resource Conservation & Development
- Heart Ministry Center
- Holy Name Housing
- Maha Music Festival
- Midlands Latino Community Development Corporation
- Ollie Webb Center, Inc.
- Susan G. Komen Great Plains
The chief executive and board leadership of each nonprofit will participate in a 24-month curriculum designed to strengthen organizational and leadership capacity.
The Foundation believes that the best way to strengthen our community, is by strengthening the individual nonprofits. If we can boost their long-term organizational capacity and efficiency, the whole community benefits. It’s our goal that these nonprofits and their executive staff and board leadership walk away with concrete tools, knowledge, and resources to ensure that they can adapt and grow with time, furthering their mission, and enhancing their programs and services.
Each year, following nominations from community members and a competitive application and interview process, ten local nonprofit organizations are invited to participate. In addition to a $5,000 grant upon completion of the program, participants receive executive coaching, peer learning opportunities, strategic planning facilitation, and an organizational capacity assessment.
