Ten Omaha-area nonprofits were selected to participate in a program designed to help them more effectively achieve their missions. The Nonprofit Capacity Building Program is a 14-month curriculum offered by the Omaha Community Foundation that strengthens both the nonprofits and the community as a whole. This is the fifth year for the program, and each organization’s executive director will attend the classes.
Out of dozens of applicants, the ten nonprofits and executive directors selected to participate in the program this year are:
- 100 Black Men – James Mason
- Charles Drew Health Center – Kenny McMorris
- Children’s Respite Care Center – Terri Fitzgerald
- Crossroads of Western Iowa – Brett Dillinger
- Douglas County Historical Society – Kathy Aultz
- Heartland Hope Mission – Chelsea Salifou
- Omaha Area Youth Orchestra – Rana Scarlett-Johnson
- Omaha Small Business Network – Julia Parker
- Pottawattamie County Mental Health & Substance Abuse Network – Beth Morissette
- The Union for Contemporary Art – Brigitte McQueen-Shew
The participants in the Nonprofit Capacity Building Program will determine priority areas for capacity building, meet with peers to discuss and address challenges, attend sessions designed to strengthen each organization’s board leadership, develop a strategic plan, receive executive coaching and a $5,000 grant for their participation.
