Nearly fifty Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area nonprofit organizations that work with African American and Latino populations, and neighborhoods across the community received $450,000 in grants in May. The African American Unity Fund and Futuro Latino Funds, grounded in resident-led decision making, focus on building capacity for nonprofits who work to better their respective communities. The Omaha Neighborhood Grants program supports community leaders doing impactful work in their own neighborhoods.

Grant recipients received their checks from Omaha Community Foundation and were invited to a celebratory mixer at Comunidad Maya Pixan Ixim Community Center.

African American Unity Fund (AAUF) distributed $200,000 to 19 organizations. This grant cycle, there was a collective focus on capacity building efforts; the committee partially funded several organizations that focused on the intersections of youth, civic enrichment, education, and culture.

Futuro Latino Fund distributed $200,000 to 11 organizations. This year, a record number of proposals were received from new and returning organizations. The committee continued to focus on youth leadership, development opportunities, and community building programs and activities.
