The Page County Community Foundation, working in partnership with the Clarinda Foundation and the Greater Shenandoah Foundation, awarded $140,929.04 to Page County nonprofit organizations and community projects during its Spring 2023 Grant Cycle.
The following organizations are Spring 2023 Grant Recipients:
- Clarinda Chamber of Commerce – $5,916 , Chamber Upper Story Apartments Equipment
- Clarinda Fire Department – $9,905.95, Ventilation Fans & Firefighter Safety Lighting
- Clarinda Parks and Recreation Department – $20,000, Kiwanis Park Playground
- DIBS for Kids – $5,000, DIBS Program at Essex Community Schools
- Essex Child Center – $12,500, Infant Room Back Wall Repairs
- Essex Opera House – $12,500, Renovations to Flooring, Electrical, and Entry
- Lied Public Library – $2,500, Library Landscaping
- M.A.Y. Mentoring – $2,500, The Amazing Chemistry Show
- Nishna Productions, Inc. – $15,000, Laptops and Desk Locks
- Shenandoah Fire Department – $9,905.95, SCBA Updates for Firefighter Safety
- Shenandoah Pregnancy and Resource Center – $4,347.14, New Building Kitchen
- Southwest Iowa Families Inc – $20,000, Child and Family Center
- Turnbull Child Development Center – $20,000, Improvements to Heating/Cooling System
- West Central Community Action – $854, Emergency Clothing Room Shelving
All grantees met the criteria as Page County nonprofit agencies or organizations with charitable missions supporting community needs in the areas of civic engagement, culture, health, education, and social services. Only organizations providing services in Page County were eligible to apply.
The Page County Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Omaha Community Foundation, which meets National Standards for Community Foundations, and is one of nine county members of the Community Foundations of Southwest Iowa. It receives funds annually from the State of Iowa County Endowment Fund Program for endowment building and grantmaking throughout the county. This cycle of grants was made possible through the County Endowment Fund Program and is funded by a percentage of the state’s commercial gaming tax revenue, which is distributed annually to participating community foundations associated with counties without a state-issued gaming license.
Beyond the County Endowment Fund Program, the Page County Community Foundation partners with the Clarinda Foundation and the Greater Shenandoah Foundation to assist individuals, families, businesses, and organizations in creating permanent and expendable funds that address changing, vital community needs and interests. Gifts to permanently endowed funds through the Page County Community Foundation may be eligible to receive a 25% Endow Iowa Tax Credit.
