The Page County Community Foundation, in partnership with the Clarinda Foundation and the Greater Shenandoah Foundation, is pleased to announce that it has awarded $117,595 in grants to Page County nonprofit agencies. The following nonprofit organizations were awarded grants by the Page County Advisory Board:
- City of Clarinda – $25,000 for parks and recreation playground project
- Clarinda Fire Department – $20,250 for wildland fire gear
- Essex Child Center – $9,619 to update light fixtures
- Essex Fire Rescue – $6,258 to replace outdated gear
- Nishna Productions – $1,215 for benches and wheelchairs for Shenandoah Work Center Day Habilitation Services
- Nodaway Valley Historical Society – $2,500 to create a Historical Clarinda Square Room display
- Turnbull Child Development Center – $1,800 to purchase a commercial floor machine
- Page County Fair – $25,000 to rewire electrical throughout fairgrounds
- People for Paws – $2,000 to replace and update dog kennels
- Porter’s Lake Lutheran Founders – $5,000 to repair skating rink roof
- Shenandoah Healthcare Foundation – $18,103 for an all-terrain vehicle for off-road emergencies
- St John Noah’s Ark Preschool & Daycare – $850 for safety and sanitizing equipment
All grantees met the criteria as Page County nonprofit agencies or organizations with charitable missions in the areas of civic, cultural, health, education, and social services. Only organizations providing services in Page County were eligible. Page County agency representatives received their checks on April 17. During brief check distribution activities, Dennis Grebert commended the nonprofit agencies for their individual efforts to provide a better quality of life for the residents of Page County.
Our Advisory Board is pleased to direct $117,595 in grants to these important community efforts in Page County,” Grebert explained. “The Page County Community Foundation is one of nine counties that are collectively known as the Community Foundations of Southwest Iowa and meets or exceeds the Standards for Community Foundations as established by the Council on Foundations in Washington DC.
The Page County Community Foundation works with individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to create permanent funds that address the changing, vital community needs and interests. Donating to a permanently endowed fund helps your neighbors today and you help build a stronger community tomorrow. Not only that, you’ll be eligible to receive a 25% Endow Iowa Tax Credit for each donation, in addition to any Federal tax benefits for which you may qualify. The Page County Community Foundation invests and administers these funds and distributes grants to deserving, qualified nonprofit organizations.
