The Omaha Community Foundation is kicking off our annual Let Good Grow campaign, which supports our vital work in the community.
As needs in our community change, OCF is available to quickly tackle great challenges. When devastating tornadoes struck the region in April, we established the Nebraska Tornado Recovery Fund. By leveraging our relationships with the community, our fundholders, local businesses, and other partners, we raised more than $1 million for immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts. Our first checks to nonprofit partners working on the ground to support tornado victims went out less than a week after the disaster.
As relief efforts shifted toward long-term recovery, we recognized the need for a coordinated response across the region. We established the Tri-County Long-Term Recovery Group, a coalition of nonprofit organizations, government agencies, direct service and volunteer groups, and philanthropic partners. The Tri-County LTRG is working to meet the transitional needs of those affected and plan for long-term resiliency and support. The group is also working to put disaster response and recovery infrastructure in place so it is immediately available if another disaster strikes our community.
This is just one example of how OCF can respond to community needs. Others include:
- Serving as the Omaha Pathways Community HUB, a care coordination network of Community Health Workers whose goal is to improve birth outcomes for pregnant individuals and their families.
- Managing $2.5 million in community loans focused on assisting small businesses and increasing affordable housing.
- Providing a year-long training program for local nonprofit leaders to help build their organizations.
Still, we can accomplish so much more with your support – partners like you make this work possible. By financially supporting our Let Good Grow Fund, you help ensure the Omaha Community Foundation remains at the forefront of service and connection in our community.
Please join us in our efforts and Let Good Grow!
