The Omaha Community Foundation is committed to cultivating generosity, strengthening nonprofits, and engaging our community around important issues. In recent days, our country and community has shared tremendous grief in the murder of George Floyd, an unarmed black man killed by law enforcement officers in Minneapolis, Minnesota—just one of many racially motivated crimes in our country last week and in our own community Saturday evening.
The Foundation stands in solidarity with movement leaders, community members, and the call for justice on behalf of George Floyd and far too many other black lives that have been senselessly taken at the hands of white supremacy, bigotry, and racism.
We understand that a thriving community can not exist where all are not welcome, protected, and regarded to as equals. Therefore, our team will continue to use our power and thought leadership to support the most vulnerable in our community, ensuring all can lead a life by their own design.
