It’s often stated that our community is home to some of the most generous people in the nation – and we have proof. With the addition of the 2019 graduation class, more than 100 local professionals will have earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) designation.
As of December 2019, 106 graduates have successfully completed the program since the Omaha Community Foundation partnered with Mark Weber, Principal, SilverStone Group, to bring the program to the community in 2012. Graduates include local professionals with careers in law, finance, nonprofit development, and more.
The goal of the program is straightforward: help Omaha be a more generous community.
According to a recent Omaha World Herald article, the 106 CAP® designated advisors have helped facilitate more than $1.4 billion in charitable gifts. The increase in charitable gifts is indicative of clients who feel more empowered by CAP® advisors and have a clear direction on how to best invest their wealth and assets.
The Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) is a graduate-level, rigorous year-long course administered by The American College of Financial Services in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. It provides participants with the knowledge, resources, and tools necessary to help clients reach their charitable giving objectives, while also helping them meet their estate planning and wealth management goals. During the program, local philanthropists and nonprofit leaders, such as Walter Scott, Mike Yanney, Ken Stinson, and John Gottschalk, have shared their real-world experiences and knowledge as guest speakers.
CAP® is a year-long investment, with enrollment fees for for-profit professionals at $3,800 and $3,000 for nonprofit professionals.
