After a career of nearly 20 years with the Omaha Community Foundation, President and CEO, Sara Boyd, has announced her departure at the end of this calendar year. Matt Darling, Executive Vice President who has been with the Foundation since 2013, has been named Interim President.
During Sara’s tenure, the Foundation has grown to nearly 1,800 fundholders and $1.2 billion in assets. She has also overseen the creation of Omaha Gives!, resulting in nearly $50 million in giving, the launch of the TheLandscapeOmaha.org with 38 indicators on community well-being, and the growth of Foundation’s grant programs benefitting over 1,200 local nonprofits.
“My time at the Foundation has been both personally and professionally fulfilling in the most important ways – the value of our services, the impact on the community, and the relationships created. It has been an incredibly difficult choice to leave, but my time here has been an immense gift,” Sara said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to witness the generosity of donors firsthand and for the privilege to work with thoughtful and inspired people. I look forward to seeing how the donors, board, and staff at the Foundation continue making an impact on the community that I love so dearly.”
Sara will be leaving to lead a local technology company that focuses on protecting the video evidence of children who are survivors of abuse. The Board of Directors is working diligently with both Sara and Matt to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition in the weeks ahead. The Board plans to conduct a search in the upcoming months for Sara’s replacement.
“Sara has been integral to the sizeable growth of the Omaha Community Foundation,” said Connie Ryan, current OCF Board Chair. “Her leadership has put the Foundation on the map nationally as a community foundation, and has positioned our organization to have an even greater impact going forward.”
