The Cass County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that it has awarded $117,595 in grants to Cass County nonprofit agencies. The following nonprofit organizations were awarded grants by the Cass County Advisory Board:

  • Anita Public – $2,000 for library LED lighting for Adult Fiction Room
  • Ann W. Wickman Child Development Center – $10,000 for expansion and renovations
  • Atlantic Coca-Cola Center & Museum – $1,000 for shelving for backroom storage
  • Atlantic Lions Club – $2,000 to renovate 1875 schoolhouse at Sunnyside Park
  • Atlantic Parks and Recreation – $12,000 to install picnic shelter at Schildberg Recreation Area
  • Atlantic Police Department – $2,500 for reserves body camera systems
  • Atlantic Soccer Association – $2,000 for soccer goals with nets
  • Atlantic Youth Sports – $10,000 to renovate existing bathrooms
  • CAM Shooting Team – $1,000 to construct benches at the practice field
  • Cass County Conservation – $6,000 to update playground equipment in Cold Springs Park campground
  • Cass County Historical Society – $10,000 for preservation & protection of artifacts
  • Cumberland Public Library – $3,000 for computers and maker space items
  • Friends of the Griswold Public Library – $3,000 for bookshelf and furniture additions
  • Friends of the Outdoor Classroom – $3,000 for an epoxy finish to the concrete floor in the new kitchen addition
  • Griswold Volunteer Fire Department – $3,000 for rope rescue truck cache kit and life safety rope
  • Griswold Volunteer Rescue – $3,000 for patient mobilization equipment
  • Griswold Youth Sports – $5,000 for ball field improvements
  • Hitchcock House Advisory Board – $8,000 for tuckpointing for Hitchcock House
  • Marne Firefighter & Reserve Association – $6,000 to replace old bunker gear
  • Massena Historical Society Heritage – $4,000 for park improvements
  • Massena Volunteer Fire & Rescue – $4,000 for new grass attack vehicle
  • Nishna Valley Family YMCA – $17,095 to repair & update the indoor pool

All grantees met the criteria as Cass County nonprofit agencies or organizations with charitable missions in the areas of civic, cultural, health, education, and social services. Only organizations providing services in Cass County were eligible. Cass County agency representatives received their checks on April 6. During brief check distribution activities, Nicholas Hunt commended the nonprofit agencies for their individual efforts to provide a better quality of life for the residents of Cass County.

Our Advisory Board is pleased to direct $117,595 in grants to these important community efforts in Cass County. The Cass County Community Foundation is one of nine counties that are collectively known as the Community Foundations of Southwest Iowa and meets or exceeds the Standards for Community Foundations as established by the Council on Foundations in Washington DC.

The Cass County Community Foundation works with individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to create permanent funds that address the changing, vital community needs and interests. Donating to a permanently endowed fund helps your neighbors today and you help build a stronger community tomorrow. Not only that, you’ll be eligible to receive a 25% Endow Iowa Tax Credit for each donation, in addition to any Federal tax benefits for which you may qualify. The Cass County Community Foundation invests and administers these funds and distributes grants to deserving, qualified nonprofit organizations.
