The Omaha Community Foundation’s African American Unity Fund and Futuro Latino Fund announced their 2012 grantees. Grants were awarded to fifteen organizations totaling $180,550.
African American Unity Fund
The African American Unity Fund supports the involvement of more African Americans in philanthropy and the nonprofits that improve the quality of life for African Americans in Omaha. 2012 AAUF grants went to the following organizations:
- Good News Bears Club of Omaha, Inc. – $10,000
- Great Plains Black History Museum – $10,000
- Hope of Glory Ministries – $10,000
- Memorial Study Center, Inc. – $20,000
- North Omaha Contractors Alliance – $10,000
- North Omaha Neighborhood Alliance – $20,000
- Voice Advocacy Center – $10,000
Futuro Latino Fund
The Futuro Latino Fund supports the sustainability of local Latino families, neighborhoods and organizations through cultural enrichment, socioeconomic well-being, and civic participation. 2012 FLF grants were awarded to the following organizations:
- Comunidad Maya Pixan Ixim – $10,000
- Dream Project Coalition – $25,000
- Language & Culture School of Omaha – $10,000
- Latino Academic Achievement Council – $10,000
- Midlands Latino Community Development Corporation – $10,000
- Mujeres Activas – $10,000
- Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary – $5,000
